Description:
SUMMARY:
Full-time position for a Heavy Civil Project Superintendent / Project Engineer. Position will be based in Anchorage but will require travel and or relocation as projects dictate. Responsible for the planning, execution and successful completion of heavy civil construction projects throughout the State of Alaska.
Detailed Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support the Project Manager in planning for and managing projects. Abides by the ACHC code of conduct, policies and procedures, and promotes shareholder hire on all projects. Complies with, understands and supports the ACHC safety culture to ensure a safe work environment. Charting out the project objectives and plans, setting performance requirements, and selecting project participants. Bringing about optimum utilization of resources- labor, materials and equipment. Oversee the on-site construction project from start to finish. Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed. Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking expenses and minimizing exposure and risk in the project Ensure that construction activities move according to pre-determined schedule. Devise the project work plans and make revisions as and when need arises. Communicate and work effectively with sub-contractors on all phases of the project. Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all the sub-teams. Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Oversee and work closely with other Project Engineers, Project Administrator, Craft Superintendents, and Craft workers. Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent communication skills. Ability to plan and organize a team effort. Good client management and goodwill building ability. Capacity to motivate, lead and boost morale of the project teams. Effective time management and logical decision-making ability. Capacity to handle pressure. Willingness to travel / relocate to the construction sites. Physical and mental fitness is a given.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A four-year bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. A post graduate degree in construction management is an added advantage. Minimum 5 years of experience leading construction projects in Alaska. Thorough understanding of HeavyBid estimating system Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards Thorough knowledge of Environmental issues and Storm Water Pollution Prevention requirements. Proficiency in MS Office and Premavera P6 scheduling software Additional Details

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents or drawings
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Long hours
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
Talk, hear, stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75#
Vision abilities include: closedistance focus, colorperipheral vision, depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed at a Construction work site.
Subject to outside working conditions.
May work with or around large construction equipment

Work is performed in an Office setting
The floor plan consists of offices and work stations.
The noise level is usually moderate.
The work is in a fast-paced TEAM environment and requires collaboration with a variety of departments and ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks thru completion.

TRAVEL:
The incumbent is required to travel in small and large commercial fixed wing aircraft in diverse weather conditions to remote locations.
