Overview: The instructor’s primary responsibility is to provide instruction in assigned courses according to approved course outlines, course syllabus, and lecture notes using accepted and effective teaching methods is such a way as to greatly enhance the student’s chances for success and graduation from the program.
Duties: Instructor duties include, but are not limited to, the following: maintain current and accurate daily attendance and grade records; deliver stimulating daily lesson plans; participate in faculty meetings, instructional seminars, and in-service training sessions; and take an active interest in school activities such as student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, new student orientations, advisory board meetings, and student retention programs and activities. Detailed Responsibilities: Deliver curriculum through lecture and clinical laboratory exercises as intended by the School catalog, course syllabi and lesson plans, as scheduled. Strive to achieve overall student satisfaction. Conduct classes using organized and interesting methods which simulate a work environment and which facilitate student involvement, participation, and motivation. Assure responsibility for student learning vs. allowing students to fail to learn. Always strive to improve instructional effectiveness by using a variety of teaching techniques and approaches. Adhere to all School policies, standards, and regulations. Maintain accurate daily student attendance and grade records, as required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings, in-service training sessions, instructional meetings, and advisory board meetings, as required. Provide feedback and recommendations regarding potential improvements to the curriculum. Keep abreast of current information and state-of-the-art technology within the allied health profession. Correct and return quizzes, tests, exams, and lab assignments by the next attended class day. Utilize instructional aids such as overhead projectors, films, videos, tapes, field trips, demonstrations, audio-visual resources, and guest speakers when possible. Acquire and maintain a complete working knowledge of the School Catalog, the Student Handbook, and the Instructor Manual. Provide tutoring and informal advising to students as needed. Report damaged, broken, or malfunctioning equipment or unsatisfactory classroom/laboratory equipment to the Director of Education or the School Director. Work with School administration to improve the overall operation of the School. Cooperate with and assist other staff and faculty members in support of the overall educational environment and the success of the student. Perform other duties as required by the Director of Education or the School Director.
